Hello Stitchers,
Autumn has arrived in
Wisconsin, and the spectrum of colours has
certainly provided once again that wonderful
inspiration of design. "French Harvest" rests at my back door, as the celadon
and ecru Cinderella French pumpkins are waiting to be
stitched and charted. Apart from the traditional
orange field pumpkins, these new breeds of harvest
provide such a wonderful back drop for my new
creations. As Cinderella's stagecoach was shaped,
these delightful specimens of our harvest are a
lasting beauty. However with the chilly nights we
have experienced already this month, soon they will
become soup and bread, and the memories will be in
the stitched vision of my "French Harvest" to publish in 2006.
I trust this year has brought
great blessings to your lifes, and has afforded you
endless hours of stitching pleasures. I have been
extremely busy at The Heart's Content, Inc. and
Linen Emporium, creating new designs and hues of
Scottish Glenshee on which to manifest your
heirlooms. All of your patience with the new
Glenshee colors soon to release has been greatly
appreciated. In Spring, 2006, I shall have the new
swatch books ready for distribution. If you wish to
contact me at that time, I'd be delighted to fill
your requests. It is a lengthy and tedious process,
and I want to be certain it is accurate before it
releases.
Earlier this year, I have
released my entire staff, due to our economy. It is
with great regret that I was forced to do so. I
miss my friends daily, and some of their hats don't
seem to fit my head, as the tasks of this design
studio are overwhelming. I ask for your patience
and understanding in the process of my shipping and
processing of orders. For the most part, I am
capable of maintaining a well-stocked inventory,
but occasionally need to hand-dye, process, print,
or the such, to complete a simple item in your
order, and that can delay the posting for a few
days. I am desperately trying to handle all the
facets of the business, and am finding that the
eighteen hour days are proving a horrid tax to my
health. Recently, there was rumored the most
unfortunate tale of my ceasing to design. To my
dismay, shock, and anger, it is most contrary to
that indeed. I have never been busier in my life. I
continue daily to move forward in this needleart
industry that I so love. It is my life. It is my
partner. It is my soul. I am most blessed when I
can spend endless hours in my studio creating a new
inspiration, with hopes of sharing with you the
enjoyment of creating this same design in those
infinite one over one cross stitches on this tiny
count of the premier Scottish Glenshee linen. I so
appreciate your support of my design efforts, and
am eager to share with you my newest creations. Be
certain to check my site often, as these new
designs post. Everything has remained the same here
at The Heart's Content, and Linen Emporium. The
great Classical music still surrounds me, and
Allison Krauss continues to serenade me daily.
Last week, I returned from my
last exhibit/teaching venue of the year. It is with
great anticipation that I prepare my space for the
long winter ahead, arresting the flower beds of
their tattered hints of summer beauty, re-store the
summer comforts of lounging, winterize the Emporium
for the long Wisconsin winter ahead, preparing
bolts of linen for my hand-dyed baths on my deck,
knowing the weather shall turn nasty, and I must
satisfy my linen needs for the months ahead of
designing the new Spring Line Up. The 2005 crop of
leaves, acorns, mulch, and the such, has provided a
wonderful hue for my dye baths, and I am in the
midst of creating new colours for a new creation
soon to stitch. I have spent several days outdoors
tending to these tasks, and only wish I had a few
more weeks of pleasure to play in my forest. It is
truly where I smile, as I collect the fine
ingredients for my linen dying, and prepare the
fallen trees to provide me that firewood and warmth
for the long season ahead of me. Soon all of my
fireplaces shall blaze, and then I know I am home.
Oh how I love Wisconsin. Simply cannot imagine
residing elsewhere. My home, my heart, myself
belongs here. Always.
Your response to my Splendor
Series of Samplers has been tremendous. I am
presently working on a Holiday Splendor. Somehow
that monochromatic method of creating a stitched
sampler seems so pleasing to us needleartists, and
surely affords a bit of simplicity while assembling
them on my behalf. The Holiday Splendor will be a
part of my 2006 releases, so be sure to check out
my site in February.
Also just released are my two
2005 Exclusive Teaching pieces. "Celebrate Your Heart" and "Respect". They are now posted here, and are
available for purchase either from your local
needlework shop, or directly from THC. The shops
will be receiving their new releases within the
next month. My friend, Photoboy is hand-rubbing the
last of the classic custom cherrywood heart frames,
and the hand-dyed linen is on the deck drying.
Assembly awaits me, now that I have moved indoors.
Apple Cider brews, the wool wardrobe appears, and
my task of preparing firewood is most appreciated.
Just prepared my first batch of winter soup, and
sat down to chat with all of you for a bit.
Ah France~~~~ Thank you all
sincerely from the bottom of my heart for your fond
support of my friend Marie from Toulouse, France. I
have recently begun the distribution of her
wonderful creations. A separate section of my web
site features her lovely designs. Be sure to check
it out. We have sold out of several, but shall
expect another shipment soon.

Recently I have resigned from
the CATS (Now "Stitching Festival") board of
directors, and will not be exhibiting at their
events in the future. You will want to be certain
to check my "Agenda" at the bottom of my home page
often to learn of the new venues I have
experienced. Change is good for all of us, and a
most wise business decision has taken me on
different Interstates; soon to intersect with your
area of visit. I'd love to continue to see all of
you at these new events, and in the best interest
of our industry, my mission is to expand our
horizons of needleart, and provide my talents of
designs to a broader audience. Designing, teaching,
vending, creating......that's what I do. I will be
posting bits of my 2006 schedule shortly, but will
not have it completed for some months. New
contracts, and the such, take a great deal of time
and determination. Periodically, I will post
additions to my agenda, so be certain to check
often. Think of positive new areas to travel to. A
great dedication of time and resource has gone into
my new ventures and decisions. Assure I will
partake in those events that afford the worth of
both yours and mine of time and travel. I will look
forward to seeing all of you soon. I hear every
word you are saying. It is always so pleasant to
visit the stitched models and have your own private
moment with a few; assuring yourself that yours
will look just like that when it grows up. My pink
and white antique quilted booth shall continue to
travel around this great world exhibiting my
designs. We shall meet again soon.
I'd like to take this
opportunity to extend a Warm and Blessed Holiday
greeting to all of you. Families are the best, and
that is exactly where I shall be this Season. My
dearest celebration is my lovely daughter, Andrea.
Recently relocating her Chiropractic practice in
Green Bay, once again, I take great pleasure in the
time we can share. Today we both attended a local
Small Business Career Seminar, and learned much
about our businesses, and established a great
comfort of knowing our closeness is again a
reality. Andrea truly has been the inspiration of
my latest "funk" of character, such as "Friends Are
Angels On Earth", "Respect", "Endure With Grace",
and Gaze Awhile". She and I just shared a funny
evening of laughter at one of our favorite local
pubs. Resulting in several new inspirations for new
creations, I shall always cherish our time
together, and the fond memories of our shared
"funk". Imagine that.
Keep your needle threaded,
and remember, every room in your home should have a
stitching nest. Not only does my home contain just
that, but I make certain the wonderful hue of pink
also exists in every area as well.
May we remain friends in
stitching,
