Hello
Stitchers,
Once again I am returning to
Charleston, and am most anxious to share with you
all of my new designs. So much has transpired in
just one year. Charleston, such a great city to
visit, welcomes our Festival, and we so appreciate
your support of our efforts to exhibit a fun
experience for you and your stitching
friends.
I sincerely thank all of you
for your kind regards with the loss of my Dear
Mother, and my spine injury. I miss my mother
daily. Our blessings are her numerous grande
memories. My family shares daily such fond memories
of our parents. We are truly blessed. Our ongoing
efforts to organize literally thousands of their
old photographs has proved to provide a most
enjoyable experience for all of my brothers and
sisters. Often, such a photograph will run away
with an hour of laughs, great stories, and the
admittance that Maureen will never grow old. Older,
but not old. My man, Rod Stewart says it all.
Forever
Young. May you always
walk with youth in mind and spirit.
Slowly, but surely, my back
continues to mend. I had to excuse THC from a few
of the events, and resign from the Stitching
Festival Board of Directors with my injury, but we
are looking ahead to a positive year of travel,
design, stitching, and spending time with you at
the Festivals. Presently I am working on an
incredible piece entitled "The Status Thimble", a
fine English piece to house that treasured heirloom
of your Grandmothers'. I am blessed with my
Grandmothers' exquisite 14K gold thimble, and have
finally scheduled this design for my release later
this year. Such great satisfaction in the
designing, and such pleasure in the creation of its
being. My favorite. Choosing the hues in which to
execute my designs. A great pallet indeed.
My teaching schedule is in a
rebirth stage; with some fresh new concepts, I am
submitting several unique and funky designs to
tempt your needles. Recently, a great reception
with "Friends Are
Angels On Earth",
generated much buzz at "Mom and Me", in Lebanon, Illinois enroute to the
annual wholesale tradeshow in Nashville, Tennessee.
Most stitchers/students were delighted with the
newly released "funk" in my design efforts. I must
admit, that flavor is tasted in part through my
lovely daughter, Andrea. Though she is buried in
her new practice in Virginia, and consumed with her
100 year old farm house in the mountains, and a
wonderful new man in her life (Hey! Ray man!), she
still manages a few stitches daily. I have always
admired Andrea's sense of balance. A great gal,
indeed. During one of my recent "bud visits", we
played with a new section of my floss pallet, and
most definitely, her youth and bodacious flair of
colour prevailed.
I am presently continuing
both the Splendor and Fruitful series. Kathy, my
night staff, just suggested a Holiday Splendor.
Great concept! My sister, Mary Beth, who recently
accompanied me at the Nashville trade show,
suggested raspberries for the next Fruitful
sampler. That it is. During our eighteen hour
journey back to Green Bay, we brainstormed
endlessly, and reminisced of THC's earliest days
when she traveled to such trade shows with me. Her
earlier single life in Atlanta afforded that
freedom. Now married, and the mother of three, she
has found time to recently join our staff here at
The Heart's Content, Inc. Great addition, I must
say. Great ideas for expansion, and so much to
bring to our table. Her son Eric also accompanied
our Nashville market, and was indeed an instant hit
with the shopowners. In the back seat on the
journey South, he memorized my entire brochure
contents, titles, identifications, and price sheet.
I offer over four hundred products. He was amazing.
The ladies loved him. On the journey North, again
from the back seat, I heard: "Aunt Maureen, when is
your next show?" And "Aunt Maureen, when are you
going to be selling this business?" Ya gotta love
Eric. Eleven years old. Don't tell anyone however.
The age requirement on the floor of such tradeshows
is twelve. He had the wink and dimpled smile down
pat. He did a fantastic job, and I am so very proud
of my nephew. I'm sure you may meet Eric some
day.
The 2004 Annual Ornament is
suggesting a new slant. Perhaps an Amaryllis! I can
envision a large potted floral with an enormous
organdy bow. My dear friend Chris, is smiling; her
suggestion! You'll be certain to receive the first
kit, Chris. Thanks for the fabulous
suggestion.
During my struggle of 2003,
I'm afraid my web site has slid to the back burner.
Such a pride and joy to co-create, and yet it is
amazing what life throws your direction sometimes.
We are now working very diligently on restoring
some of those issues. My photographer, Steve Seilo,
is presently studying the contents, in an effort to
restore and maintain the site in the future. We
felt who better than that talented artist who has
uniquely captured my stitched image on the covers
of my publications for twenty years. My gratitude
to you, Photoboy.
I so appreciate your extended
patience during this difficult time. You will
continue to see my site improvements and updates
regularly. Please do not hesitate to contact our
offices toll free if we can be of any assistance.

I thank you for your past
support, and shall anxiously await our next
meeting. Enjoy every moment with that threaded
needle in your hand.
